Fall 2025 applications are now open. Apply by December 15th priority deadline to be considered for fellowship opportunities.

Students will apply directly to their chosen M.Eng concentration. Be sure to select “Master of Engineering” when applying, and not “Master of Science”.

Application Deadlines: Fall 2024

Applications are submitted online and processed on a rolling basis. Deadlines for the Fall 2024 application cycle  are below:

Note: If you are an international applicant, we encourage you to apply early to allow sufficient time to obtain your student visa. Allow 4-6 weeks for the University to process visa related paperwork. 

Application Requirements

  • Online application (https://apply.grad.uci.edu/apply/)
  • GRE score (Waived for Fall 2025)
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related area
  • Statement of Purpose 
  • Personal History statement is optional, but encouraged if interested in scholarships
  • Video Portfolio: Answer three provided questions
  • Resume: Industry experience in a related field is encouraged but not required related field is encouraged but not required.
  • University transcripts from every college attended (unofficial acceptable for application)
  • Three letters of recommendation 
  • TOEFL or IELTS score (if applicable)

Fellowships

M.Eng offers fellowships to top applicants. They are merit-based and are awarded at the time of admission. There is no separate application process. All candidates are considered for fellowships. In general, applying early maximizes the chances of receiving a fellowship.

Fellowships for Fall 2025 range in value from $5,000-$15,000.

Tuition and Fees 

Master of Engineering tuition and fee can be found on the UC Irvine’s Registrars site: https://www.reg.uci.edu/fees/2023-2024/index.html 

  • Fees are the same for all students regardless of residency
  • $500 Application SIR Deposit is credited towards first quarter tuition
  • Studetns with health insurance outside of UC Irvine can waive the student health insurance fee: https://shc.uci.edu/insurance/waiving-ship/apply-for-waiver
  • Tuition and mandatory fees have been set regardless of the method of instruction and will not be refunded in the event instruction occurs remotely for any part of the Academic Year.
